50 Years of Moving Mississauga: 1974-2024

MiWay has released a comprehensive account of the important contribution public transit has made to the economic and social development of Mississauga, Ontario over the past 50 years. Beginning in 1892 with an electric radial railway operation provided by the Toronto and Mimico Electric Railway to the Port Credit community. Since its start as a City operation, the transit system has grown to serve than 45 million annual trips in 2023 on 65 routes with a 505 bus fleet and 1,400 employees serving a population of 725,000. An 18 km LRT operation in the Hurontario Street corridor, the Hazel McCallion Line, is planned for opening by 2026.

This impressive 96 page, 8 x 10 ½ full-colour publication contains a wealth of information including vehicle and service location photos, maps and public notices, with a chapter describing the various private operators and vehicles that provided service to the Mississauga communities prior to the start of municipal transit service in 1974. CTHF has provided content, images and editorial support.
