Winnipeg Beaver Bus Lines Orion V Charter

The CTHF is sponsoring a trip for transit historians aboard a Beaver Bus Lines Orion V bus (from 2000-04, ex-GO Transit) on Saturday, June 1 in Winnipeg MB. This is the one of the oldest, and few remaining, high floor transit buses operating in Canada.

The fan trip will retrace the historic Winnipeg-Selkirk route, first operated between 1903 and 1937 by the Winnipeg, Selkirk and Lake Winnipeg Railway Company followed by Beaver Bus Lines and other operators. If time permits, the old route to Stonewall will also be retraced.

The charter will start at the Balmoral Street Bus Stop (next to the old Bus Terminal, on Balmoral Street just north of Portage Avenue) at 10:00 AM, returning at 4:00 PM. Numerous photo stops will be planned and a lunch stop will be included. We will also visit the Beaver Bus Lines and Selkirk Transit garages.

CTHF is working on possible Friday activities starting around 12:00 Noon. A tour of New Flyer and viewing some of the Manitoba Transit Heritage Association fleet are possible activities but have not been confirmed at this point. The pricing for the Friday activities is separate and further details will be e-mailed in the future to those who register for the charter. Copies of the 2024 Street Side Guide will be available for purchase.

Join us for a six hour charter aboard this rare transit vehicle. Cost is $25.00 for CTHF members and $35.00 for non-members.
