We at the Canadian Transit Heritage Foundation, alongside with our partners at the Canadian Railroad Historical Association, are proud to announce a new addition to the collection at Exporail: a 1966 Societe Transport de Montreal Canadian Vickers MR-63 car! More specifically 81-502.
These cars were retired from the STM fleet on June 21 this year, after providing Montrealers 52 years of service, totaling in excess of 4,000,000 kilometres of service per car, since they were first commissioned in 1966.
Prior to sending 81-502 to Exporail for preservation, the STM had given the car a facelift, and reverted the car to the as delivered paint scheme it originally wore back in 1966.
81-502 will be formally introduced into the collection at Exporail, on October 12, 2018. More information available here.
